Welcome!
My name is Sydney, and I’m a professional portrait and commercial photographer based in Tucson, Arizona. I work with both digital and film. Travels anywhere.
With over a decade of experience behind the lens, I bring a distinct blend of artistic vision, international influence, and thoughtful direction into every shoot. After spending seven years living and working in Tokyo, I honed my eye for modern, fashion-forward photography and exhibited my work in several gallery shows. Now based in Tucson, Arizona, my approach is shaped by street, commercial, and fine-art portrait photography, always with an emphasis on capturing real connection, bold confidence, and authenticity over artifice.
As a photographer, I explore how image and identity intersect, not only through art, but through human connection. My sessions are collaborative, intentional, and grounded in the belief that good photography doesn’t gloss over or pose away what makes you you — it bridges the gap between how you see yourself and how the world sees you; it reflects something real, who you are, at your most honest and at ease.
When I’m not shooting portraits, you’ll catch me shooting street photography, exploring museums, foreign films, literature, fashion, and new restaurant menus. I live with three very opinionated cats.
“I’m not very photogenic…” is something I hear all the time — and believe me, I get it. I’ve wrestled with self-image and understand the disconnect that can exist when the person we feel like inside doesn’t align with the representations in our heads, the mirror, or the screen. That disconnect is what first drew me to photography, and is why I’m so passionate about creating a different kind of experience to help others (re)discover their confidence and see themselves in their best light (pun intended).
In many ways, I view photography as a form of interactive art therapy. With a background in psychology, sociology, and philosophy, along with over ten years of teaching experience, I know how to build a warm, relaxed, and collaborative space during shoots, especially for those who feel awkward or unsure in front of the camera. Whether it’s an imaginative portrait, a professional headshot, or anything in-between, my focus is always the same: Every shoot is a conversation. Every image, a portrait of presence.
